THE DYNAMICS ANALYSIS OF BOTTOM HOLE ASSEMBLY IN THE DEEPWATER DEEP LONG HORIZONTAL WELL
ABSTRACT
At present, complex well configurations such as sidetracks, multilateral wells, ultra-deep wells, and extended-reach wells are widely applied, resulting in increasingly complex loading conditions for downhole drilling tools. In this study, the dynamic equilibrium equations of the drill string system are established based on Hamilton's principle. Considering initial imperfections of the drill string, a fatigue life prediction model for the drill string system is proposed. Taking a deepwater deep long horizontal well as a case study, the von Mises stress and fatigue life of the bottom hole assembly (BHA) are calculated. By analyzing the influence of different BHA configurations on the fatigue life of the BHA, an optimal BHA scheme is proposed for the given well.
