NON-ISOTHERMAL KINETIC ANALYSIS OF THERMAL REACTION PROCESS FOR TYPICAL TOBACCO AND RAW MATERIALS
ABSTRACT
The thermal reaction kinetic characteristics are significant for the design and development of novel tobacco products. In this study, different types of tobacco are selected for non-isothermal combustion experiments and kinetic analysis. The reaction processes are investigated using thermogravimetric analysis at four heating rates of 5, 10, 15, and 20 °C/min. The combustion and kinetic characteristics are systematically analyzed. The results indicate that the tobacco combustion process can be divided into five stages: moisture evaporation, volatile release, polymer decomposition, lignin carbonization, and burnout. The ignition points of the four samples range between approximately 220°C and 250°C, among which the raw material exhibits a lower ignition point due to its higher hydrogen-to-carbon ratio, higher volatile content, and lower fixed carbon content. The activation energy lies between 112.99 and 143.37 kJ/mol, showing a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with conversion rate, where the maximum value corresponds to the decomposition and carbonization process of lignin. This study provides a theoretical basis for comprehensively understanding the fundamental combustion kinetics of different tobacco blends, and directly guides the precise control of combustion parameters.
